Jean Gamache MBA
As President of Fiera Private Lending since 2011, Jean Gamache has dedicated himself developing the lending platform while meeting client needs and exceeding investor expectations in terms of returns.
From the moment he took over the position, Mr. Gamache has played a key role in developing and growing the company’s business. He introduced a business diversification strategy to the existing business in 2013 which has resulted in a 325% increase in assets under management and generated higher-than-target returns for the investors. In the pursuit of its Canadian growth strategy, Fiera Private Lending opened an office in Toronto in 2017 for the real estate financing and interim business financing teams. The total allocation of the loan portfolio for Ontario reached 29% in just one year, making the firm a vital player in the industry.
Mr. Gamache is an experienced business leader with more than 25 years of experience in real estate and commercial financing. Before joining Fiera Private Lending, he worked for a Canadian bank where he had $1.7 billion in assets under management in real estate and $1 billion in commercial loans. For the same bank, he was co-responsible for the risk model parameterization committees to bring the institution into compliance with the Basel II agreement for the real estate and commercial sectors.
Mr. Gamache has a Bachelor of Finance and an MBA with a specialization in financial services.
Richard Cousineau C.APP, AACI
Senior Vice President, Real Estate Financing, Canada
Richard Cousineau joined Fiera Private Lending in 2009 and is Senior Vice President, Real Estate Financing, Canada.
He is primarily responsible for identifying and assessing financing opportunities across Canada. Backed by the members of his team, he ensures healthy and sustained growth of the portfolio by establishing partnerships with major real estate developers to finance their construction projects or the redevelopment of their real estate assets. Mr. Cousineau contributes to the success of the Real Estate Financing Fund with financing agreements entered into with key players in the industry, in addition to constantly exceeding benchmark target returns for investors.
Mr. Cousineau has more than 30 years of experience in real estate and financing. He previously worked for reputed organizations, including the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, in investment management for Canada. He also managed a real estate financing portfolio of more than $3.5 billion for major financial institutions in Canada.
Richard Cousineau holds a Bachelor’s degree in Administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal and is a certified appraiser with the Ordre des évaluateurs agréés du Québec and the Appraisal Institute of Canada. He is also a certified real estate broker with the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec.
Senior Vice President, Business Financing, Canada
Tony Gulotta is Senior Vice President, Business Financing for Canada since 2018.
In this role, Mr. Gulotta provides leadership in support of the business development, sales strategies and credit management for the Quebec and Ontario teams. He joined Fiera Private Lending in 2017 at the inception of the company in Ontario where he held the position of Vice President and Group Lead, Business and Real Estate Financing for the Toronto office. With his broad experience and expertise in financing, risk management, business development and sales management, he contributes to the success of the fund’s growth across Canada.
Mr. Gulotta has over 35 years of mixed real estate (ICI) and commercial financing experience. Prior to joining Fiera Private Lending, he managed a territory composed of $2.5 billion in deposits and loans in Eastern Ontario with CIBC. Subsequently with HSBC, he was responsible for managing a commercial and real estate banking team in Toronto. Over his career, he has had experience in managing a real estate portfolio of over $400 million for First City Trust throughout Quebec and the Maritimes.
Tony Gulotta holds a Bachelor’s degree from Concordia University as well as FICB, CFP and PFP designations.
Chief Financial Officer
Yanic Roy joined Fiera Private Lending in May 2017 as Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Roy is a key member of senior management. As part of his duties, he heads up the Finance team as well as the Compliance and Operations team. His responsibilities include overseeing accounting and finance activities, taxation, cash management, budget process, loan administration and compliance, as well as information technology. Mr. Roy plays a key role in the company’s strategic projects and the development of its operational activities to support its strong growth. He ensures the implementation of best practices in order to respond to the company’s business needs.
Previously, Yanic Roy worked for PSP Investments, where he held various positions of increasing responsibility. Among other things, he developed and managed a team composed of more than 30 professionals dedicated to fund accounting and private alternative investment portfolio reporting. He also worked for this firm in Europe, where he was responsible for finance activities and for European investment platform operations. Precedently, he participated in numerous investment project analysis and modeling mandates in financial advisory at PwC. He began his career at KPMG in audit services.
Mr. Roy holds the CPA, CA designation and is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec.
Vice President, Operations and Corporate Secretary
Catherine Nichols joined Fiera Private Lending in 2001. Ms. Nichols has had an impressive professional career in her more than 15 years with the company. She quickly rose through the ranks, holding various management positions, the most recent being Vice President, Operations and Corporate Secretary.
In her role, she oversees the intelligent governance, risk and compliance management framework in the loan monitoring process, which contributes to the efficiency of operations in the firm’s different business sectors. Her team’s mandate is to support management in supervising the company’s business and affairs in order to increase long-term value for investors.
She helped create and implement an IT platform which now enables the team to monitor loans daily and to manage proactively. The results show that she encourages the members of her group to embrace change, to suggest improvements and to recognize their importance and their repercussions.
Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the HEC, Ms. Nichols stresses the importance of personal integrity and the need to deal with clients in good faith, honestly, and with loyalty in the interest of the company.
Geneviève Ménard CRHA
Vice President, Human Resources
Geneviève Ménard joined Fiera Private Lending in 2015 as Vice President, Human Resources.
She works closely with members of management to develop human capital, leadership and employee engagement. Her responsibilities include developing and implementing the organization’s global business strategies and ensuring that the issues in all different sectors of the industry are clearly understood. She has been influential in the company’s expansion by introducing talent management programs such as the identification of high potentials, the development of leadership and successors, and innovative attraction and retention strategies to meet the company’s growing needs.
Geneviève Ménard has been working in human resources for nearly 20 years. During her career, she has held positions in organizations such as the Montreal Stock Exchange, the TMX Group and Mindready Solutions Inc.
Ms. Ménard has a Bachelor of Career Development and Human Resources from the Université du Québec à Montréal and she is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) with the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines.
